Elsevier Foundation New Scholars Program Grant
Vice Provost Rosina Becerra and Associate Dean M. Belinda Tucker of the Graduate Division have received a New Scholars program grant from the Elsevier Foundation to support faculty women in science, health and technology in the early stages of their careers as they strive to balance child care and family responsibilities with the demands of academic life. The funding will be used over a three year period ( 2010-2012) to support two new programs at UCLA. Click on the links below to read about these programs.
Faculty Career Development Award
Faculty Career Development Awards are given annually to assistant professors, providing research support at a critical time in the pre-tenure stage. Awards are made in the form of summer ninths, one-quarter sabbatical supplements, full-quarter research leaves with salary, or a lump-sum of $3,000. Approximately 30 awards are granted annually.

Non-Senate Faculty Career Development
The University has created a fund for professional development of non-senate faculty (NSF) members. The purpose of these awards is to provide support for the professional development of an NSF member. The Non-Senate Faculty Council on Professional Development, a committee of four current non-senate faculty members, is charged with reviewing applications for these funds and making recommendations on awards to the Vice Provost, Faculty Diversity & Development.
Regents' Lecturers and Professor
The Regents’ Professors and Lecturers Program permits the appointment, on a visiting basis, of distinguished leaders from non-academic fields to enrich UCLA’s instructional program. A Regents’ Professor serves for one quarter and normally teaches one or more courses during the year. Regents’ Lecturers are available for participation in the instructional activities of the sponsoring department and other interested academic units and for informal consultations with students and faculty.
