CODEO’s Fair & Open Academic Environment Award
The Academic Senate Task Force on a Fair and Open Academic Environment was established in 1991 following a call from the system-wide Academic Senate and the Office of the President to "establish programs designed to raise the awareness and sensitivity of faculty and staff to potentially prejudicial or discriminatory practices and behaviors." One of the recommendations of the Task Force, approved at the May 23, 1995 Legislative Assembly, was that the Chancellor should establish a system of campus recognition and rewards for faculty, administrators, students, and staff who are especially successful in a fair and open environment.
Academic Senate Distinguished Teaching Award
The goal of the UCLA Academic Senate Teaching Award is to increase awareness of UCLA’s leadership in teaching and public service by honoring individuals who bring respect and admiration to the scholarship of teaching. By recognizing teachers for their achievements, the award gives UCLA an opportunity to demonstrate to the community, alumni, students, parents, donors and others what makes UCLA “a beacon of excellence in higher education”. These awards are an effective way to boost morale on campus and provide role models for faculty and students.
Research Enabling Grant (REG) Program
This program is designed to assist Senate faculty who need a relatively small amount of grant support to conduct their research. The maximum amount that can be requested through this program is $1,000. Faculty who fully complete the application will automatically receive the amount requested, up to a maximum of $1,000. Although an amount of up to $1,000 may be requested, the actual amount awarded will depend on the number of applications submitted to this program and may be less than $1,000.
Faculty Research Grant (FRG) Program
This program is available for Senate faculty who require more substantial amounts of funding to support their research. Faculty can apply for funding at two fixed levels — either $5,000 or $10,000. The FRG program will be highly competitive. Applications will undergo peer review and funding will be awarded based on the merit of the application.
ACOR-CCP Joint (COR-CCP) Program
The Council on Research (COR) is also pleased to announce the continuation of a joint funding opportunity with The Center for Community Partnerships (CCP). Entitled UCLA in LA, this opportunity provides additional matching funds from CCP for Faculty Research Grant applicants who work with local non-profit 501 c 3 tax status organizations focusing on Los Angeles communities. CCP and COR will jointly review proposals and determine which projects are to be supported. You must indicate in your application if you would like to be considered in this category and why.
